Colin manages the execution of e@UBCO’s Mentor 2 Market program and provides ongoing mentorship and guidance to UBCO-affiliated entrepreneurs.

Colin has spent over six years in the public innovation sector, developing entrepreneurship programs and workshops, managing innovation hub facilities, and mentoring student teams throughout the venture building process.

Skilled in community building, student engagement, and experiential learning, Colin is a champion for equity, diversity and inclusion and is committed to designing inclusive experiences for underrepresented groups.

He is the recipient of multiple entrepreneurship awards and scholarships, is committed to lifelong learning, and enjoys supporting others in developing an entrepreneurial mindset.

 

Sarah Sutherland (on maternity leave)

Sarah manages the execution of e@UBCO’s Mentor 2 Market program and provides ongoing mentorship and guidance to UBCO entrepreneurs. She is focused on growing the e@UBCO community and supports the Managing Director in program development and delivery.

As a designated Chartered Professional of Human Resources, Sarah has spent many years as an advisor, building and shaping the HR departments of businesses spanning a variety of industries – from small start-ups to large, national corporations.

Sarah has extensive knowledge in HR strategy and top talent acquisition and is passionate about designing positive employee experiences that shape, influence and inspire company culture.

She has won numerous company awards for her work in this area and now enjoys coaching young entrepreneurs on the benefits of developing a positive workplace culture, as the build and grow their ventures.

Sarah also serves as Board Director and Head of HR for the Arts Council of the Central Okanagan.

 

Tiara Porter

Tiara assists with event planning, student engagement, and program support for e@UBCO’s Mentor 2 Market program. She also leads the Women at the Forefront initiative, which is part of a broader focus for e@UBCO to engage female-identifying students with entrepreneurship.

Tiara is a fourth-year Bachelor of Management student, with a passion for sustainability.

She is the recipient of the 2021 MURA research award, where she conducted in-depth research into food and sustainability, as well as marketing and consumer perception of green-labelling. This research was done alongside Dr. Eric Li, associate professor in the Faculty of Management.
