Leadership Forums

These high-level thought leadership discussions are designed to help cultivate a healthy, resilient, connected community.

e@UBCO brings together UBCO researchers, start-up innovators, funding partners, indigenous leaders, municipal government, non-governmental organizations, and the local business community to frame regional challenges and mobilize partnership opportunities.

The Leadership Forums are designed to coalesce and inspire community action and to engage UBCO innovators in exploring evidence-based solutions to issues, including smart cities, remote cancer care, disaster mitigation, agri-tech, digital media, regional competitiveness, and more.

2020 Forums

Our 2020 lineup includes important topics like building flood resiliency, resource efficiency, and food security. Watch for new and exciting discussions topics on our Events and Workshops page.

Building Okanagan Flood Resiliency

Find out how indigenous TEK and research innovation are cutting costs for taxpayers and developers – while bringing back salmon, reducing fire risk, restoring water quality, controlling flooding and drought, and creating beautiful natural public spaces.

Technology Gaps in the Wine Industry and Agtech

Poplar Grove CEO Dr. Tony Holler discusses technology gaps in agtech and the wine industry.

Previous Forum Topics

Our first Leadership Forum in 2018 led to the formation of the Okanagan Sustainability Leadership Council – a non-profit entity that undertakes major sustainability projects across the Okanagan Valley with more than 120 private, public, professional service providers and non-governmental organizations represented.

Leadership Forums held in 2019 have led to a Smart Cities Working Group, an Interior Remote Cancer Care initiative, and commercialization opportunities between Okanagan wineries and UBCO entrepreneurship teams.
